Joe and I start tomorrow. We will be installing what might be the world's first wave resistant hurricane shutter. It is an attractive shutter designed to withstand a large wave of water crashing into it. It is designed to withstand 800 pounds per square foot!!!
Our shutters cost just a little more than $3/lb of force withstood whereas most shutters cost about $10/lb of force.
We will begin installation tomorrow by bolting supports to each side of the windows and adding the sides. On Thursday we should be able to install the center cross bar (the "secret" of how these can withstand so much force) and begin adding the shutter faces. The shutter faces are made of galvanized 13 ga cold rolled steel with solid ash inserts that not only add beauty but strength.
We will post photos starting tomorrow.
